Installing Portal Entryways At Your Facility: What To Expect

Using a new type of technology can be daunting and strange. We get it. We'll be there every step of the way to make sure you have a successful install.

Installing Portal Entryways

As a facilities manager, a new building technology installation can be a daunting process. However, with the help of the Portal Entryways team, it doesn’t have to be. This article will give you a quick overview of what to expect on Portal installation day.

Above: Brief Overview of Installation Process

On installation day you can expect 1–3 portal employees to arrive at your scheduled installation time. These installers will come with our compact Portal devices, which they will integrate into your existing doors.

Portal devices rest neatly above existing door motors.

Together, you and our installation team will review each motorized door in the facility that will be utilizing Portal. Before beginning the hardware installation process, we will discuss any existing security features, existing handicap technology, and address any individualized concerns relevant to your specific facility. Portal Entryways receivers can be installed on any low energy automatic door operator motor that can be activated with a normally open relay switch. We will be sure to work with you prior to installation to review your specific existing door technology and ensure our system is compatible. Our team will then install our hardware component on your door.

Use Portal Manager: Set Up Wizard

After installing the device, you will be guided through customizing your door settings via the Portal Manager App. This software installation portion will allow you to GPS mark each door, and customize features such as door opening distance, door name, and photo. You will then be able to track the usage of each door, right from your smartphone.

Finally, the Portal team will thoroughly test each door to make sure that each entryway functions properly and fits your specifications. This completes the installation process, and your doors will now open hands free.

Through this simple installation, wheelchair users will now be able to open handicap doors with their smartphone via the Portal Entryways App. With the Portal receivers now installed on your entryways, users can simply approach doors with their smartphones, have the doors open for them hands-free, and have it stay open until they are safely through — saving up to a minute of navigation time per door for some wheelchair users.

Peace of Mind

In addition, you, the facilities manager, can now view the accessibility traffic through various entryways in your facility, and can easily be alerted when accessibility issues arise. Instead of having to walk through an entire facility to manually check the functionality of accessibility entrances, you can now track each door right from a smartphone.and more easily maintain ADA compliant entrances.

Overall, you don’t need to stress about a Portal facility installation. Our team will work with you to make the installation process go as smoothly as possible. Interested in installing Portal in your facility? Visit our website or email us at to learn more! We’re happy to help!
